29/07/17 Ardingly College build Primary School in Kenya with TSS support
In 2008 Ardingly College began raising funds to build a new primary school in Kenya through the Charity ‘The Kariandusi School Trust’. Thanks to the efforts of Ardingly College fundraisers and contributions from TSS Facilities, they managed to raise £80,000 and this July, finalised the construction of the brand-new school - Ndogo.
Ndogo was originally a mud hut building situated in a very remote part of Kenya (two hour’s drive north of Nairobi). The funds that were raised allowed Ndogo to benefit from numerous new classrooms, a library, a water harvesting system and a playground - which most of the pupils had never experienced in their lives. This project also introduced a lunch-time food programme for all Ndogo pupils (for some this will be the only meal they will have each day).
Managing Director of TSS, Andy Tugwell, explained his thoughts on the project. “We're over the moon to hear of the success of the Ndogo project. it’s great how a simple idea can have such a big impact on the pupils. The project has been a great success and we at TSS Facilities are proud to have been a part of it.”
