01/10/10 Legionella Awareness Training
TSS Facilities promotes healthy water systems for Sussex schools
TSS and ESCC joined forces in October to educate Sussex school property managers in the dangers of poor water hygiene. Caretakers and Head Teachers were invited to a Legionella awareness training session held at East Sussex National Golf Club near Uckfield, Sussex where they learned about the importance of clean water systems and how to carry out the required routine maintenance tasks themselves.
After the recent spate of Legionnaire's disease instances in Wales, schools are more concerned than ever that their premises comply with ACoP L8 (The Control of Legionella in Water Systems). "You can never underestimate the possible ill effects of stagnant and contaminated water, particularly where children are concerned" said Steve Tugwell, Director of Water Treatment at TSS Facilities. "It's in the public interest for local authorities and schools alike to work together to ensure L8 compliance across the county".
TSS water treatment experts were on hand during the day with practical demonstrations for on-site water hygiene care showing delegates how to check water tanks, pipes and how to correctly test water temperatures with their own in-house equipment.
The insightful and informative sessions were heavily oversubscribed this time but TSS Facilities has promised further training days very soon. Contact us to find out when and where the next one will be held.
