20/12/17 TSS General Manager Steve Gray victorious in charity boxing match
On Saturday night, TSS Facilities General Manager Steve Gray took to the ring for a head to head boxing match to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The event, hosted by BHB promotions, took place at the Metropole Hotel in Brighton, where a total of 10 trophies were contended. The evening was attended by approximately 500 people from numerous businesses located across Brighton who came to support the boxers whilst raising money for charity throughout the evening.
The event was Steve’s first ever competitive boxing match and he had been training intensively over the past 16 months, to ensure he was both mentally and physically prepared for his fight. During the 3-round contest both boxers tested each other’s strength and technique but when the final bell was rung, Steve was the winner on points and awarded the trophy by the judges.
Following his victory, Steve had this to say. “This journey has been one of the most challenging experiences of my life and I’ve worked really hard to get this far. I’m absolutely delighted with the outcome of the fight but I’ve got to credit my opponent who didn’t make it easy. I’d like to thank Scott Welch’s team at Brighton and Hove ABC for the amazing job they have done with training me to get to this point. This experience has really opened my eyes to a new world of physical and mental challenges and I have already signed up for another bout in February 2018!”
Steve is very grateful to those who have already helped him to raise over £850 for Macmillan Cancer Support, but he would love to be able to raise more. You can still donate by visiting his justgiving page.
