The objective of the services is to:
- Deliver contracts and a supply chain that can work in partnership with the Council over the coming years
- Ensure all assets are maintained to a high standard within limited resources
- Create added and social value and increase benefit to the local economy and the environment
The BHCC Education portfolio consists of 126 properties, predominantly Infants and Junior Schools, plus Caretaker/Premises Manager properties.
Gaining access to carry out the planned preventative maintenance (PPM) can be challenging, but with our experienced engineers and administration team, all visits are scheduled with the Premises and Business Managers to minimise disruption to staff and pupils. For instance, all PPM work within the plant room and away from pupils is organised during normal school opening hours. All other items within communal areas are arranged for either early morning or after school hours.
This organisation has allowed us to be 99.5% compliant for gas regulations and keep within the KPI’s for the Service Level Agreement.
A current challenge is accessibility and staying safe throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. All staff are briefed and trained to deal with the current situation and therefore minimise any risk to clients, end users, and themselves. The legal compliance of plant and equipment has not been compromised due to the safe approach of all employees.
