About:

Brighton and Hove is a seaside city in East Sussex, the towns of Brighton and Hove formed a unitary authority in 1997 and in 2001 were granted city status by Queen Elizabeth II.

The city has become England’s most populous seaside resort, as well as the largest city in South East England, with a population of 273,400.

The Challenges:

Scope of Contract

The Brighton & Hove City Council contract has been held by TSS since March 2010, this was successfully retained under tender in April 2014, and again in 2020 as a Partnering Contract.

We are responsible for 313 properties within Educational, Social Care and Civic sectors across the city ensuring compliance to all mechanical equipment, for example:

  • Heating appliances
  • Commercial boilers
  • Refrigeration
  • Air conditioning
  • Gas ovens
  • Ducting systems
  • Automatic parking barriers
  • Door entry systems
 

We maintain over 12,000 assets and remain 99.5% compliant.

The Solutions:

KPIs and Deliverables

We supplied the Council with mobilisation reports on each property within the first two quarters of the contract, so they could evaluate their budgets and prioritise investment.

During our mobilisation we re-tagged the BHCC assets and refreshed the details held on our system. Our PPM Planner aids our help desk team to plan and co-ordinate servicing to each of the councils properties, so that full compliance is achieved and that gas safety inspections are not missed.

Our engineer productivity has been dramatically increased by the use of handheld tablets, allowing engineers to immediately call upon call out history on a particular asset, helping with diagnosis or eliminating possible causes of failure.

All staff are encouraged to be aware of the environment and communities in which they work. This helps improve personal social responsibility and benefits clients and residents alike.
